DIY is NOT our forte, we are pretty much the opposite of crafty. If we attempt a craft project we usually end up ruining it! But this DIY necklace is making the rounds on Pinterest and I thought it was worth a try.

I went with black ribbon instead of neutral and loved the contrast between the metal and ribbon.
1. Get supplies: 25 metal washers and 1 1/2 yard of ribbon.
You can buy the washers from Home Depot and ribbon from a craft store.
Total cost = $3.00
2. Start the weaving process. I used the easy to follow directions from this blog: http://nestledblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/diy-washer-ribbon-necklace.html
3. Keep on weaving, make sure ribbon is even on both sides.
Tape the ends of the ribbon to make the whole process go a lot faster.
4. Admire your hard work! It took us about 15 minutes to finish the necklace.
Have fun crafting!
Full disclosure: It helps to have a crafty mom by your side to help when you slip up.
Thanks Mom!
